UNBEATEN ANDRES GUTIERREZ DEFENDS WBC SILVER SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP AGAINST REY PEREZ ON JULY 6 IN QUERETARO, MEXICO

PhilBoxing.com

RICARDO ALVAREZ VS. REYES SANCHEZ IN TELEVISA AND FOX DEPORTES CO-FEATURE

LOS ANGELES, July 5 - On Saturday, July 6, two days after the United States' Independence Day celebration, the fireworks will continue south of the border when Televisa and FOX Deportes air two 12-round championship bouts from the Auditorio General Arteaga in Queretaro, Mexico.

In the main event, 19-year-old hometown hero Andres "Jaguarcito" Gutierrez defends his WBC Silver Super Bantamweight Championship for the first time against the Philippines' Rey Perez. In the co-feature, Guadalajara's Ricardo "Dinamita" Alvarez also defends a title for the first time as he puts his WBC Continental Americas Super Lightweight Championship on the line when he meets Nezahualcoyotl's Reyes Sanchez.

Gutierrez vs. Perez and Alvarez vs. Sanchez are presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Canelo Promotions and sponsored by Corona. Doors open at 5 p.m. CT and the first fight begins at 6 p.m. CT. The Televisa broadcast begins at 10:30 p.m. CT, with the FOX Deportes broadcast airing at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT

19-year-old phenom Andres Gutierrez (26-0-1, 22 KO's) has already amassed an impressive number of titles since turning pro in 2009, winning the WBC Silver, WBC FECARBOX, IBF International and WBC CABOFE belts. It's been a remarkable run for the teenager, but he's not even close to achieving all of his goals yet Following a fifth round technical knockout win over veteran Salvador Sanchez in April, he's showing he's ready for even bigger challenges.

Nicknamed "The Sindangan Technician," Rey Perez (17-3, 3 KO's) is a talented boxer who has impressed on the Filipino fight scene with his abilities in the ring. Just 22 years old, Perez has won four of his last five fights, with his only loss being a razor-thin decision to former World Champion Hugo Cazares in January. On Saturday, Perez seeks redemption in Mexico.

A late starter in the fight game, 31-year-old Ricardo Alvarez (20-2-3, 13 KO's) turned pro in 2008, but he has made up for lost time by staying busy and consistently giving solid performances. Unbeaten in 11 of his last 12 bouts, Alvarez won the title he will be defending Saturday night by decisioning Mauricio Pintor last October. Since then, he knocked out Carlos Valdez in two rounds in April.

Ten year pro Reyes Sanchez (24-4-2, 14 KO's) has been paying his dues in the fight game for a long time, but with a recent five fight unbeaten streak, he's starting to reach his potential at the age of 28. With his only loss in the last three years coming against former World Champion Antonio DeMarco in 2011, Sanchez is ready to make his move at 140 pounds.
