YORDAN MOVES UP TWO WEIGHT DIVISIONS IN QUEST FOR IBO LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE PhilBoxing.com Thu, 04 Jul 2013 ![]() Indonesia?s tough Daud Yordan who lost his IBO featherweight title by a 12th round TKO to South Africa?s 32 year old Simpiwe Vetyeka last April 14 in Jakarta will move up two divisions to face Argentina?s Daniel Eduardo Brizuela in Perth, Western Australia?s Metro City on Saturday. The fight which will be refereed by internationally respected Angeles City based New Zealander Bruce McTavish is expected to test Yordan who says he is ready for a bigger challenge in the lightweight division and a chance to become the first Indonesian two-division world champion. The 26 year old Yordan told the Jakarta Globe ?It will be history if I can win the bout. I will be the first Indonesian to win world titles in two different classes. I always have motivation and each motivation is special for me.? It will be Daud?s first bout after losing his title to Vetyeka at Jakarta?s Tennis Indoor Senayan on April 14. He has been in Perth for two weeks training at Harry?s Gym, owned by Chris John?s trainer Craig Christian. During the final stages of his preparation the Indonesian revealed ?I have a two-hour training regimen now, which has six to eight rounds. I did my big preparation in my hometown.? Daud, his trainer Damianus Yordan and Christian have reviewed Brizuela?s previous fights and have drawn up a strategy to overcome the Argentine WBO Latino lightweight champion who is 27 years old and has a record of 25-1-2 with 8 knockouts. Yordan said ??I know what to do. But I know he has advantages as he has been fighting lightweight for some time while it?s my first bout in the (lightweight) class.? He noted that Brizuela ?has a good reputation as the International Boxing Federation Latino lightweight champion. I will try to be more aggressive.? Brizuela won the IBF Latino title by defeating countryman Julio Cesar Ruiz by a twelve round unanimous decision on Augist 13, 2011. Daud who fought as a featherweight for some eight years has indicated he feels more comfortable with his new weight and wants to answer his critics. He told the Jakarta Globe ?I feel more comfortable as I can?t stay in featherweight class. I want to win this bout, either with decision or knockout.? Daud won the IBO featherweight title with a stunning 2nd round knockout of hard-hitting Filipino Lorenzo Villanueva at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel on May 5, 2012. Yordan has a record of 30-3 with 23 knockouts. ![]() |
