LES ?LOCK N LOAD? SHERRINGTON COMES FACE TO FACE WITH A CONFIDENT PEREZ

PhilBoxing.com

WBF world middleweight champion and WBO world number 8 Les ?Lock N Load? Sherrington today came face to face with his opponent in Friday night?s clash on ?Smithy Brings The Big Fights 4?, Jorge Gomez Perez.

The Paraguayan super middleweight champion showed no lack of confidence, sporting a NSW Blues jersey into maroon territory at today?s media conference on the day of the opening State of Origin game.

?I know Les is a strong fighter, but I have been preparing for this for 5 months? said Perez.

?I won the Paraguay title 3 weeks ago but I have not stopped thinking about this fight, I know I will do well.?

Sherrington however believed it may be a disappointing trip for the Paraguayan champ.

?It was a ballsy move to wear a blue jersey to a media conference in Queensland on a day like this,? said Sherrington
?I know he is fit and ready but so am I, I have had a great prep and can?t wait to show everybody my new skills on Friday night.?

The boxers in the main undercard bout today also saw each other for the first time today. Philippine star Jack ?The Assassin? Asis came face to face with tough Argentinian Jose Saez.

?This is an important fight for me and I will give it everything? said Saez.

Asis on the other hand only had one thing to say when asked for a prediction on Friday nights international match up, ?I don?t like talk, I like fight?.

Also present at today?s media conference was local crowd pleaser Will Young who will take on James Kinsela from NSW as well as English import Darren Askew who is up against current Qld Junior welterweight champion Mark Ramirez. Undefeated local Kris George was also present to respond to the harsh words delivered earlier in the week by his opponent Dean Cambridge from NSW along with debutant Graham Blay who will fight Josh Webb in the battle of the local cruiserweights.

Not only will this card feature world class professional boxing, but Toowoomba?s own local rugby league players will also take to the ring In two separate ?tag team? fights with Souths Tigers against Valleys Roosters and Pittsworth Danes taking on the Toowoomba Clydesdales. Each club has nominated two players to don the gloves next Friday night carrying with them, the pride of their club and their own reputation. While there is a noble cause underlying these events with each club raising money for charity, there will be no charity inside the ring with players beginning their own war of words on Facebook.

?These two fights could well become the fights of the night? said promoter Brendon Smith.

?Each player has their reputation at stake and I?m sure we can expect fireworks when they step into the ring.?

The fights will take place on ?Smithy Brings the big Fights 4? this Friday night at Rumours International in Toowoomba.

Tickets to ?Smithy Brings the Big fights 4? will remain the same as the previous events that is $45 for general and $75 for ringside.
