NBA -- Nets crush Bulls in series opener

BROOKLYN --- The Brooklyn Nets opened their 2013 post season with a resounding 106-89 win over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night at the Barclay Center.
All-Star point guard Deron Williams led the way with 22 points and seven assists while 7-foot center Brook Lopez had his way in the paint with 21 points. Joe Johnson added seven of 13 field goals for 16 points.
Injuries continued to hound the Bulls as center Joakim Noah played through a painful plantar fasciitis in his right foot and was held to four points and five rebounds in 13 minutes. But the Bulls got 25 points from Carlos Boozer and 17 from Nate Robinson.
The Bulls are still without Derrick Rose, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in last year's playoffs. Chicago had won three of four regular season meetings against the Nets this season, but the Bulls didn't have it against the dominant Nets this time.
"I thought we competed extremely well, I thought we defended extremely well and pushed the ball and shared the ball extremely well in the first half," Nets Coach Carlesimo told reporters. (RS)
