NBA -- D-Rose works out, thrills fans at United Center workout (PHOTOS) By Julian Ramirez PhilBoxing.com Wed, 20 Mar 2013 ![]() CHICAGO -- Fans who came to the United Center early for the Chicago Bulls-Denver Nuggets encounter had a rare treat Monday night. They saw superstar Derrick Rose break some sweat as he continues his quest to return from a devastating injury. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound point guard tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of his right knee in first-round playoffs game against the Philadelphia 76ers last April 28. He had surgery to repair it on May 12 and what had followed since is the long, tedious process of recuperation and rehabilitation. Ten months later, Rose has been cleared medically to play. But the 23-year old juggernaut said he isn't quite ready yet as he deals with the mental side of such devastating injury. Even without Rose, the Chicago Bulls have done fairly well early in the season, leading the Central Division for a time. But the grind of an 82-game season plus injuries to Kirk Hinrich, Rip Hamilton, and most recently, Taj Gibson have severely depleted the Bulls, who've lost six of their last 10 outings, including a 42-point beating at the hands of the Sacramento Kings last March 13. As the playoffs near and the Bulls trying to make a hard push for a high seed and first-round homecourt advantage, rumors of Rose's return is almost a daily staples among Bulls lately. But there's no telling when he will actually suit up and play. For now, it's just warmups and practice layups for Rose, which is just fine for some happy fans at the United Center. (JR) As a small throng of fans watched, Derrick Rose did a little shootaround at the United Center Monday night prior to the Bulls-Nuggets tiff. The Nuggets won in an overtime squeaker, 119-118, extending their winning streak to 12 games.
