NBA - Knicks get clipped in L.A. lose 93-80 By Raman Sharma PhilBoxing.com Mon, 18 Mar 2013 ![]() JERSEY CITY -- The Knicks entered Sunday's game against the red hot Los Angeles Clippers without the NBA?s second leading scorer, Carmelo Anthony, without their leading rebounder, Tyson Chandler, and without the post scoring of Amar?e Stoudemire. With the Knicks' best frontcourt options all hobbled, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan were met with little resistance at the rim and dazzled the home crowd with a number of monster dunks and alley-oops. Though the Knicks have stayed fairly competitive this road trip, they just do not have enough firepower to hold on to early leads towards the end of games during this Western Conference road trip in which they now fall to 0-4. Since starting the season 18-5, the Knicks have gone 20-21, as the inconsistency of their season is starting to take a toll on the team and the players. Chris Paul led all scorers with 20 points plus eight assists. The Knicks were out-rebounded 51-39 as a team and the resulting second chance points doomed the Knicks. The one silver lining for the Knicks was that they continued to shoot well from behind the arc, hitting 12 of 26 for 46%. As has been the norm without Anthony in the lineup, JR Smith led the Knicks with 17 points, including a rare 4-point-play during the third quarter. Smith may receive much criticism for his 4-20 shooting night (1-7 from three point range), but at many times he is the only scoring threat New York has when the offense breaks down and when the shotclock melts. Smith is a gifted and athletic shooting guard who excels in head coach oach Mike Woodson?s system. Naturally Smith, and the rest of the team, perform better in their roles when Carmelo Anthony is in the lineup to demand the attention of the opposing defenses. This was a resounding 93-80 win for the Clippers, who bounced back from Wednesday?s home loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Meanwhile, the Knicks are hoping a change of scenery in Utah will result in a win on Monday night; their final game of this road trip.
