Sharp and Allan Draw again! By Brett Bonetti PhilBoxing.com Sat, 16 Mar 2013 ![]() Boxing returned at Perth Metro City tonight for the first time since June 2003 as Dragonfire Promotions presented ?Thunderdome? in front of a packed house and put on a fantastic event for the fans in Perth Australia. In the Main Event for the vacant WA State Middleweight Title, Luke ?Razor? Sharp (5-0-2) and Jeremy ?The Anvil? Allan (8-12-4) battled to a Majority Draw? again. Tonight?s fight was much closer to a draw than in their first fight for the title in August last year when Sharp seemed to have done enough to claim the title with a points decision. In a carbon copy of their first encounter, Sharp seemed in control of the fight in the early rounds and was landing the harder and cleaner punches over the resilient Allan. That was until round 6 when Allan hurt Sharp and had him in big trouble, but Sharp held on and refused to go down. Round 7 was a very close round with both fighters having their moments. Allan fished off the last 2 rounds of the fight a bit stronger. Following the entertaining Main Event, Judges scored the bout 77-75 for Sharp and 76-76, 76-76. There will not be a third fight between the pair as Allan announced that this was the last fight in his career. Allan had a lot of support in attendance tonight as the thanked his followers, friends and family. In a highly entertaining Co-Main Event, Mixed Martial Arts star Xavier ?X Man? Lucas (5-2-1, 3 KO?s) and knock out artist Jeremy Van Diemen (4-0-1, 3 KO?s) clashed to a contentious Majority Draw over 4 tough rounds. Van Diemen came out strong in round 1 as both fighters went toe to toe until Van Diemen caught Lucas with a good shot and had the X-Man in trouble, but Lucas made it through the opening stanza. In round 2 Lucas moved around the ring much better and began to outbox and land god shots on Van Diemen. More of the same in round 3 as Lucas continued to out box his opponent until Van Diemen landed a nice shot, however it was not enough to steal the round. Round 4 was a dominant round for Lucas as Van Diemen constantly swung wildly, but Lucas finished off the fight stronger and landed harder and cleaner punches on Van Diemen. However, the judges scored this one 39-37 Lucas and 38-38, 38-38. Fightnews scored fight 39-37 in favour of Lucas. Lucas and Van Dieman had a war of words leading into their bout tonight by sending each other video messages. When asked about the possibility of a rematch, Van Dieman said he was keen. Lucas who represented Team Australia in the recent UFC Ultimate Fighter series ?The Smashes: Australia vs UK? said he would also be keen for a rematch but would weigh up his options because he also has a MMA career and took this boxing fight with Van Dieman to keep busy. It was a successful return to the boxing ring for ?Cool? Willie Kickett (18-2, 5 KO?s) who made his anticipated return against Manopnoi Singmanasak (8-13, 4 KO?s). Kickett was in control the entire fight on his way to a comfortable unanimous points victory. In other action, John Squillace defeated Shaun Collins via 2nd round TKO, and Sam Hogan defeated Jamie Weetch, Brandon Ogilvie defeated Nuengiam Kiatsonsang, Sahlan Coral defeated Mike Reid and Andrew Green defeated Kashif Mumtaz all via unanimous points decision. WBA Fighter of the Decade and current undefeated WBA world Featherweight Champion Chris ?The Dragon? John was in attendance tonight to catch all the action as was former WBO Female Lightweight World Champion Erin McGowan and rapper Tony Tolj.
