OUTSTANDING AMATEURS JOEY CANOY AND NEIL JOHN TABANAO OUT TO IMPRESS IN THE PRO RANKS

Two decorated amateur standouts, training at the reputable Flores boxing gym of Mandaue City, will try to make it big, in a much bolder stage in the pro ranks.
Joey Canoy, originally from the fistic-crazy city of General Santos will be making his pro debut on Dec. 2 against Gary Rojo. He has won several medals in different national amateur championships and the latest was a gold-medal finish at the recent Philippine National Games in Manila representing powerhouse Panabo City. That feat impressed national team coaches and was invited to join the national training pool in Baguio City but opted to turn pro.
On the other hand, Panabo City-native Neil John Tabanao will be making his second pro fight against Jerome Baja. In his pro debut in Iligan City last Sept. 25, he stopped Roland Magluyan with a body shot in the opening round. A member of the national boxing team, he also has won several medals in different national championships, including gold in Ilo-Ilo and Puerto Princesa and silver at the prestigious 2011 PLDT-ABAP National Championships in Cagayan de Oro City.
Both fighters are sponsored by Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha and will be fighting underneath the Marco Demecillo-Singwangcha vs. Jessie Tuyor "Fighters of the Future" mainer at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Center.
