BAUTISTA TRAINING GOES TO HIGH GEAR
PhilBoxing.com Fri, 10 Nov 2006

Los Angeles -- After two weeks of sluggishness, it was a rejuvenated Rey ‘Boom-Boom’ Bautista who was all business yesterday afternoon as he went six rounds of no-holds-barred sparring against top-rated pugilists at the Wild Card Gym of reknowned trainer Freddie Roach.
The charismatic 20-year old Bautista traded blows with IBF No. 1 super flyweight contender Dimitri Kirilov and former NABO super flyweight champion Kahren Harutyunan for three rounds each.
"Maayo iyang sparring kay nagtan-aw na siya. Dili na pataka ug sumbag kay iyang duha ka sparmates puro man stylish boxers pero maayo na iyang lihok ug condition na sad siya" ("His sparrings have improved because he is more alert. He doesn't waste his punches because his sparmates are stylish boxers and he moves well because he's more conditioned now"), observed Edito Villamor, who is a two-time Elorde awardee as Trainer of the Year.
Bautista has so far accumulated a total of 26 rounds of sparring since his arrival in the States two weeks ago.
Surprise visitors at the Wild Card Gym was the two Revilla senators, father and son, Ramon and Bong, and grandson, Jolo who posed for pictures with Bautista who was star-struck to see them.
The Revillas however failed to witness the sparring of Bautista as they arrived just when the latter had ended his sparring session.
It was a rather busy day for Bautista as he was also interviewed by Brad Cooney of BoxingTalk.
With barely three weeks before his fight in Tampa, Florida, Bautista is eager to climb the ring once again if only to prove that he is definitely back on track.
