GAB gives P50K to family fallen boxer Alim By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Fri, 06 Jul 2012 ![]() DAVAO City ? The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) has recently turned over the P50,000 check to the family of the late boxer Ermelito ?Jog? Alim Jr. , who died last week after successfully retaining his crown in Agusan del Sur. Alim?s father Emerlito Sr. and his other son Rosel got the check from GAB Southern Mindanao field officer-in-charge Jimmy Mata. Also present were Alim?s boxing trainer-manager Vicente Adriano and GAB field officer Kenneth Improso. ?Ito yung tulong na galing sa GAB head office naming,? Mata said. Alim?s family had earlier received a P5,000 cash assistance from the Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (Minproba) headed by its president Yolly Alfante. Alim?s former stablemate Jayson McGura, who is now in Australia, also sent his own financial help of P10,000 cash for the burial of the former Minproba featherweight champion held last week in Malia, Davao del Sur. The 20-year old Alim collapsed on the ring after he was declared the winner over challenger Ahl Grumo in their 10-round championship bout. Alim was immediately rushed to the hospital in Agusan but later transferred to Tagum City. Alim, who made his first title defense, was again transferred to another hospital at the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City. The doctors, however, declared him already dead the following morning. The 5-foot-7 Alim had a 16 fights with only four loses and two draws with eight knockouts. ? LITO DELOS REYES.
