PENALOSA BROTHERS VOW TO TREAT FANS WITH NON-STOP ACTION ON APRIL 21 By Chito Yu Katangkatang PhilBoxing.com Wed, 18 Apr 2012 Undefeated prospect Dodie Boy Penalosa Jr. and younger Brother Dave Penalosa, both former amateur champs vowed to show the fans non-stop action on Saturday, April 21 at the Mandaue City Sports Complex. Dodie Boy Jr, will be facing Indon veteran Alex Buckie while Dave will square it off with Mandaue native Junilo Salvador. "Buckie will be my toughest opponent so far. My uncle (Gerry Penalosa) wants me to fight a more difficult opponent each new fight until I am ready for the elite level. Buckie can't be compared to my recent victims. He has fought in a regional title fight and has more experience. I have also heard he has a granite chin. I am excited to try him out. I want to test my power and skills against a more difficult opponent. I am therefore asking all boxing fans to come and support me. I promise your time will be worth it", Dodie Boy Jr. told Philboxing. The younger brother Dave was also a former amateur stand out. Unlike most amateur boxers, Dave mostly conquered his opponents by stoppage in the amateur tourneys. He fights aggressively but he also possesses the speed and skills to win by points. Perhaps it can all be attributed to the Penalosa genes. "This is only my third fight. I know I am still untested in the professional arena but I am learning. My father is training me really hard to enhance the skills which I got during my amateur days.I believe it is really an advantage if you fought enough bouts in the amateur. You get more confidence and you look at the fight like a chess match. But I admit I still have a lot to learn. Come Saturday, I will show the fans ho I have improved from my last fight. It be fun, so please come and watch our fight", the younger Penalosa told this scribe. The second episode of "Dudong Kampeon" in Mandaue is being presented by Gerry Pens Promotions in cooperation with GMA7. It is also made possible with the support of the Mandaue City Government and Japanese Boxing Manager Kosuke Washio. Photo: Dodie Boy Penalosa Sr (L) with son Dave Penalosa.
