Doubleheader To Be Televised Live In The United States On Fox Deportes

LOS ANGELES, March 28 - A hot card at the Grand Oasis Cancun in Cancun, Mexico just got hotter, as a 10 round super middleweight battle between Mexico City's unbeaten Marco Antonio Periban and Guadalajara's Gerardo Diaz has been added as the co-featured fight on Saturday, March 31 before the main event between former Two-Division World Champion Jorge "El Nino de Oro" Linares and Chetumal's Sergio "Yeyo" Thompson in a 12-round WBC Lightweight Title eliminator fight.

Linares vs. Thompson, a 12 round lightweight clash, which is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Pepe Gomez Promotor Deportivo and sponsored by Corona, Arena Oasis Cancun, Periodico QueQui, Cancun Tourism and Quintana Roo Tourism will take place at the Arena Oasis Cancun in Cancun, Mexico. The Televisa broadcast will air on Canal 5 and begins at 10:30 p.m. CST in Mexico and the Fox Deportes broadcast airs live at 10:00 p.m. EDT/7:00 p.m. PDT in the United States. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. CST and the first fight begins at 7:00 p.m. CST.

Tickets, priced at 100 pesos, 500 pesos, 1000 pesos and 1500 pesos, are available for purchase at Hooters Z.H., Farmacia Paris Centro de Cancun and the Arena Oasis Cancun.

A devastating puncher and former amateur star, 27-year-old Marco Antonio Periban (15-0, 10 KO's) is poised for a run at super middleweight division's elite in 2012. A professional since 2008, Periban compiled a 5-0 campaign in 2011 that included a 33 second knockout of highly touted and previously unbeaten Dion Savage and wins over veterans Jose Alberto Clavero and Dhafir Smith. In his most recent bout, Periban decisioned previously unbeaten Jesus Angel Nerio on January 21 in Ensenada.

Since turning professional in 2007, 26-year-old Guadalajara product Gerardo Diaz (12-1-1, 10 KO's) has racked up 12 wins, eight of which have come within two rounds or less. The only blemish on his record was in his most recent fight against Angel Martinez in May of 2011 and he's looking to get back into the win column against the highly touted Periban on March 31.
