Undefeated prospect Patrick Hyland Leads 'Irish Invasion' in New York May 12 in Poughkeepsie PhilBoxing.com Thu, 29 Mar 2012 POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (March 28, 2012) - Undefeated super featherweight prospect Patrick "The Punisher" Hyland leads the "Irish Invasion" card, presented by Final Round Promotions in association with Team Snooki Boxing and Bob Duffy's Ring Promotions, May 12 at Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. Hyland (25-0, 11 KOs), one of three fighting Hyland brothers from Ireland who are now living in Marlboro (NY), puts his perfect record on the line in the eight-round main event against an opponent to soon be announced. The 28-year-old Hyland is the reigning World Boxing Federation ("WBF") super featherweight champion, in addition to being the former International Boxing Federation ("IBF") International and Irish featherweight, and International Boxing Association ("IBA") Inter-Continental super featherweight titlist. Presently rated No. 12 by the North American Boxing Association ("NABA"), Hyland will be fighting in the United State for only the fifth time, including his last action this past January in Atlantic City. The stylish Irishman won a unanimous eight-round decision from veteran Emmanuel Lucero (26-8-1). "We have a future world champion in Patrick Hyland, who is an exciting fighter with a 25-0 record," promoter Mike Pascale said. "Boxing fans in this area have bought into Patrick as one of their own. This is a rare opportunity for them to watch Patrick fight, up close and personal, before he moves on to larger venues pursuing his world title shot. We expect a great night of entertaining, competitive boxing on May 12th. We'll also be showcasing some promising fighters from the Hudson Valley market and throughout the state of New York." In the six-round co-feature, 2008 National Golden Gloves champion Steve Martinez (11-1, 9 KOs) will be bouncing back from his first career loss in January. The gifted super middleweight fights out of the Bronx. Canadian light welterweight Natasha Spencer (3-0-1, 2 KOs) squares-off against Racquel Bailey (1-1-1) in a six-round female match. Also fighting on the undercard in separate four round bouts are Newburgh light welterweight Treysean Wiggins (3-0, 3 KOs), New York City light middleweight Valdrin Muriqi (2-1), Yonkers (NY) super featherweight Chazz McDowell (5-1, 1 KOs) and former USA Mid-American middleweight champion Bryant "The Spartan" Pappas (13-0-1, 13 KOs), and Poughkeepsie heavyweight Detroy Jones (5-0-1, 2 KOs). Pappas, a sergeant in the Yonkers Police Department, is a cancer survivor who is donating his purse to cancer research. Team Snooki Boxing is donating $1.00 from each sold ticket to Rolling Thunder, Chapter III New York to support needy U.S. military veterans.
