Kim Kardashian's ex-hubby faces the Bulls at UC By Eileen Audrey David PhilBoxing.com Sun, 22 Jan 2012 ![]() CHICAGO -- One of the 16 games shaved off the Bulls' schedule in this abbreviated NBA season is the Lakers' annual visit to the United Center. That means Kobe Bryant, one of the best players of his generation, won't be in the Windy City to blow fans away with his razzle-and-dazzle play. But Bulls fans are in luck. The Boston Celtics' Big 3 of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen will be here on Feb. 16 followed by a March 8 visit by Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic. And on March 14, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat comes to town for what is perceived by many experts as a preview of the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals. And on Monday, a basketball celebrity visits the United Center together with his fellow New Jersey Nets. His name is Kris Humphries. If it doesn't ring a bell, try the baller formerly known as Mr. Kim Kardashian. The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Humphries is a solid 7-year NBA pro who played college ball for Minnesota. In 13 games thus far this season, he is averaging 14.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per. Unfortunately, it's his personal life that has pushed him into the limelight. You see, on August 20, 2011 at a private estate in Montecito, California, Kris married Kim. It was an affair to remember where the love birds exchanged I dos in front of TV cameras and before 440 guests that included Eva Longoria, Demi Lovato, ex Spice Girl Melanie Brown, Vera Wang and Lindsay Lohan among others. Among the celebrity sports stars who attended the nuptials were Bulls icon Scottie Pippen and wife Larsa Younan, Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony and his pop star wife Yaya Vasquez, and tennis titan Serena Williams. Unfortunately, the Kim-Kris marriage was more sizzle than steak. They divorced after a mere 72 days. Shortly after the break-up, rumors surfaced that the Humphries-Kardashian union was a sham from the very beginning and that Kris was implicit in the alleged scam. Critics contend that the public was just taken for a ride, that Kim made a fortune from a plethora of wedding sponsors and from money generated through TV rights of the wedding broadcast. And, hold your breath, Kris Humphries reportedly pocketed $7.9 million as his share of the alleged farce. All this commotion, landed Kris Humphries on the top of the Most Hated NBA Players list, just a notch higher than Cleveland outcast LeBron James. The negatively publicity almost cost Humphries, an ertswhile free agent, a contract, but the Nets did sign him to a one-year deal worth nearly $8 million last month. But, thank goodness, when Kris Humphries plays against the Bulls at the United Center this Monday, he will be cheered or booed solely on his capacity as an NBA forward. But then again, he might be lustily and verbally loathed for once upon a time simply being associated with Kim Kardashian. Stay tuned.
