SALUDAR KNOCKS LLANOS OUT IN ROUND ONE By Chito Yu Katangkatang PhilBoxing.com Sat, 24 Dec 2011 Undefeated WBO World Youth Flyweight Champion Froilan ?The Sniper? Saludar won an easy round one knockout victory against Nelson Llanos. Saludar immediately imposed pressure on Llanos from opening bell firing relentless shots to the body of Llanos. A strong left hook to the body sent Llanos to the canvas for the first time as Llanos was able to beat the count. However, the superior Saludar fired another hook to the mid-section sending Llanos down and grimacing in pain. This time Llanos remained in the canvas and had evidently no plan of getting up to fight thus prompting international referee Ferdinand Estrella to stop the contest. With the win, Saludar improves his record to W14 (KO 11) ? L0- D1 and is an inch closer to a world title eliminator. Another undefeated fighter from the Top Contender Gym and WBO Asia Pacific Superflyweight Champion Jerwin ?Pretty Boy? Ancajas improved his clean record to W13(KO11) ? L0 ? D1 with a unanimous decision win over tough veteran Rodel Quilaton. Ancajas showcased superb boxing skills and great conditioning as he endured Quilaton?s punches but at the same time dominating his opponent with cleaner, stronger and more effective shots. Both warriors traded blows for full ten rounds but Ancajas was definitely the better man round by round. In the undercards, undefeated light welterweight prospect Adonis ?The Undertaker? Cabalquinto punished Dante Paulino forcing him to retire at the start of the third round thus earning a TKO victory. Cabalquinto failed to put Paulino down but his consistent pummeling forced his opponent to surrender. In a bizarre match, John Mark Apolinario came out victorious when opponent Michael Escobia ran out of the ring towards the restroom without saying anything to officiating referee Danrex Tapdasan. Atty. Tapdasan thus declared it as a second round retirement and awarded the TKO victory to Apolinario. In the curtain raiser, light flyweight Joan Imperial scored a second round knockout over Julius Agcopra. A thundering right hook to the body sent Agcopra to the canvass for good. In an interview after the fight victorious Froilan Saludar stated that he is ready for bigger fights. ?It doesn?t really matter if it?s Viloria, Melindo or anybody in the division. I always train hard and am ready to face anybody placed in front of me by my promoter Sammy Gello-ani. I thank the fans for their support, my family, my trainer and manager Joven Jimenez and of course my good promoter Sir Sammy (Gello-ani). I am excited to go home to Mindanao to spend the holidays with my family.? Promoter Sammy Gello-ani told this scribe that he has big plans for Jerwin Ancajas and Froilan Saludar next year. ?I am looking forward to arranging a big fight in China or Korea for Ancajas. The kid has improved a lot and has matured. I think he is ready for bigger and better fights. As to Saludar, he always impresses me and 2012 will be a big year for him. I will arrange a more difficult fight for him to test his maturity as a world title contender. He will probably fight a tough Mexican either here or abroad and we will see if he is ripe to a crack at a world title.? The fight card entitled ?Matira Matibay? was presented by SGG Sports and Sampson LLC Promotions in cooperation with Imus Mayor Homer Saquilayan and the Municipal Government of Imus, Cavite.
