CEBU CITY -- Defending IBF International Featherweight Champion Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista and Mexican challenger Miguel Angel Mendoza both tipped the scales at 135 lbs. during the second day weigh in held earlier this morning at the Waterfront Hotel Lobby in Lahug, Cebu City.
The second weigh-in is being required by the IBF for title fights such as this one. IBF rules provide that both fighters should not gain more than 10 lbs. from official weigh-in held the day before fight night. Present to supervise was IBF Regional Supervisor for Asia Pacific Ray Wheatley. Also present was international boxing judge Rey Danseco.
After the weigh-in, Bautista was all smiles and told Philboxing that he is ready for war and he will give the fans an exciting fight tonight. Mendoza on the other hand told this scribe that he is in the perfect condition and targets to knock-out Boom Boom by round six.
The fight takes place at the Hoops Dome Lapu-lapu City starting at 6:00 PM today and is being brought to us by ALA Promotions, ABS-CBN Sports, the City Government of Lapu-lapu and other sponsors. Pinoy Pride X will be aired via delayed telecast at ABS-CBN tomorrow, Sunday at 11:00 AM.
