LAMONT PETERSON LOS ANGELES, December 7 - On Friday, December 9, the night before boxing fans witness a showdown for super lightweight supremacy at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC, the Unified Super Lightweight World Champion Amir "King" Khan and number one rated super lightweight contender Lamont "Havoc" Peterson will be featured in separate "S?lo Boxeo Tecate Classics" fights on Telefutura. In the "Classics" main event, fans will take a look back at fight night in New York City in May of 2010 when Khan defended his WBA Super Lightweight World Title against hometown favorite Paulie "The Magic Man" Malignaggi, and in the co-featured fight, Peterson's compelling battle with "Vicious" Victor Ortiz from December 2010 in Las Vegas will be showcased. The special presentation of "S?lo Boxeo Tecate," presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate and AT&T, will air on TeleFutura at 12:30am ET/PT (11:30pm CT). Already a star in his native England, Bolton's Amir "King" Khan began his quest for world domination on May 15, 2010, when he made his United States debut against flashy former World Champion Paulie "The Magic Man" Malignaggi in the Theater of the world-famous Madison Square Garden. While Malignaggi was game, Khan was too fast and powerful for the Brooklynite, as he pounded out an eleventh round technical knockout win, making a statement to the world that "King" Khan was here to stay. Two bouts removed from the lone loss of his professional career to Super Lightweight World Champion Timothy Bradley, Lamont "Havoc" Peterson entered the ring at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on December 11, 2010 determined to get back to the top when he took on "Vicious" Victor Ortiz. Peterson recovered from early two knockdowns and used his stellar boxing skills and his ability to stay calm under pressure to battle to a ten round draw with the future World Champion. The stage is set for "Capital Showdown: Khan vs. Peterson" taking place this Saturday, December 10, 2011 live from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC and televised live on HBO's World Championship Boxing. Before the action heats up in the ring on Saturday night, tune in to TeleFutura on Friday night to take a look back at two memorable fights that have led Khan and Peterson to their "Capital Showdown."
