BRIAN VILORIA: ?MY STAMINA WON?T BE AN ISSUE AGAINST SEGURA? By Chito Yu Katangkatang PhilBoxing.com Wed, 07 Dec 2011 ?People are concerned about my stamina. I have worked so hard in addressing the issue. My trainer has pushed me beyond my limits. I have ran mountains just to prepare my stamina for a fifteen round non-stop fight and make sure past mistakes are not repeated.? These were the words of WBO Flyweight Champion Brian ?The Hawaiian Punch? Viloria when this scribe asked him about the issue of his stamina. It has been observed that Viloria?s running out of gas has been the reason why he lost to Carlos Tamara in an upset and when he seemed to fade in the later rounds of his recent fight with Julio Cesar Miranda. Boxing experts have also been divided in predicting the outcome of this fight. Some say Segura?s power will eventually catch Viloria and will end the fight. Some favor Viloria for his skills and experience. Indeed, it is difficult to identify the underdog in this fight. Segura?s most notable wins were his two knockout victories over previously unbeaten Ivan Calderon. Viloria on the other hand surprised the world when he stopped Ulisses Solis and outgunned the tough Mexican Pingo Miranda for the belt he currently wears. ?If only you guys saw my training camp, then you will have no doubt I?m gonna win this one. Giovanni is a pound for pound ranked fighter. Beating him would place me in the same pedestal as Nonito Donaire and Manny Pacquiao. That?s gonna be three Filipino?s in the top ten pound for pound list. 112 is my most comfortable weight division. I intend to stay as champion for a long time. I won?t let anyone just grab this belt away from me without giving it my all.? This kind of fight is a boxing fan?s delight kind of a match. Island Assault 3: Viloria vs. Segura will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City. It will be aired live via GMA 7. The event is brought to us by Zanfer Promociones, Solar Sports and GMA7. Author?s note: Special thanks to Solar Sports especially Mr. Peter Chanliong and Carlo Pamintuan.
