BOXING TEAMS FROM CEBU CITY AND TALISAY CITY OFF TO 2011 BATANG PINOY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

A much tougher and stiffer competition is expected as gold and silver medal winners from different area qualifiers converge in Naga City, Camarines Sur on December 10 to 13 for the boxing event of the 2011 Batang Pinoy National Championships, also known as the Philippine Youth Games.
Representing Team Cebu City of coach Jordan Dopalco will be light pinweight Junrel Jimenez of CCSC and paperweight Hipolito Banal of ALA gym. Minimumweight Marco Pomar and mosquitoweight Kit Ceron Garces of Sta. Cruz boxing stable will banner Team Talisay City and will be coached by ex-pro Rashid Bacus. The quintet are gold medal winners of the recent Batang Pinoy Visayas area qualifiers in Dumaguete City.
Pugs from Misamis Oriental and Panabo City are expected to give a tough way for the Cebuanos on top. Boxers with potential talent will be given a chance for a slot at the national training pool and represent the country in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. (Felman Gingoyon)
