Jhonny Gonzalez, 126; Roinet Caballero, 126, for the WBC Featherweight World title

PhilBoxing.com

MEXICO CITY - Successful weigh-in in Mexico City today. Both WBC featherweight world champion Mexico's Jhonny Gonzalez (50-7, 44KO's) as well as his challenger Roinet "El Mus" Caballero of Panama, recorded in his first attempt 126 lbs, the limit of the featherweight division, during the official weigh-in today at the offices of the Comision de Boxeo Profesional de Mexico DF.

Both heavy hitter warriors accompanied by their teams appeared in great shape under the intense blue sky of Ciudad de Mexico, which suggests that tomorrow's combat at Centro Banamex could be a violent war that will likely end by knockout.

Jhonny Gonzalez, 30, has been a 2-division world champion: bantamweight and featherweight.

"Johnny is in very good shape, is a champion with experience, power. Jhonny still has youth and much talent to offer to the world of boxing," commented the legendary Don Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain, Jhonny Gonzalez's trainer.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old challenger Roinet "El Mus" Caballero (31-10, 22KO's) of Chiriqui, Panama, has reigned as WBO Latino Featherweight, WBA FedeCaribe and WBA FedeLatin champion.

"El Mus," assured after the weigh-in ceremony what he has in mind, which is that tomorrow's fight will be a great, intense battle:

"I respect Jhonny Gonzalez and his very famous trainer (Ignacio Beristain). But this is the most important combat in my life and I intend to win it. It will be the all or nothing."

Present during the weigh-in ceremony was former bantamweight world champion Rafael Herrera (who is now the president of the Comision de Boxeo Profesional de Mexico DF), and legendary welterweight world champion Jose Angel "Mantequilla" Napoles.

The Gonzalez-Caballero fight is promoted and organized by Promociones del Pueblo of Ciudad Juarez and will be broadcast on Mexico's Televisa and ESPN Deportes in North America.

Philboxing will report about this combat from ringside in Ciudad de Mexico.
