Erik Morales' Box Latino Finishes Off Year in Mexicali, Mexico

PhilBoxing.com

Erik Morales' Box Latino is ready to close out the year on Saturday, December 10th, in Mexicali, Mexico, when they present "Noche de Luces en Calafia (Night of Lights in Calafia)" at the world renown bull ring Plaza Calafia. The night of professional boxing will be part of the re-inauguration celebration of the venue known through out the world for world-class bull fighting and other events. The fight card will be televised in Mexico by the mega channel Televisa.

In the main event, Ramon "Ni?o de Oro" Ayala (21-2-1, 14KOs) of Tlaxcala, Mexico, will face the tough Manuel "Zurdo" Aguilar (17-4, 12KOs) of Agua Prieta, Mexico, for the vacant WBC Silver lightweight title. The 22-year-old Ayala has strung three wins in a row after losing the super lightweight Youth WBC title after conquering it last year versus Javier Prieto via a unanimous decision. In a record of twenty-four fights, Ayala has dominated Carlos Winston Velazquez, Edgar Puerta and in his last fight he stopped Adrian Rodriguez in only two rounds.

The much experienced Aguilar, 23, is ready to push Ayala to the limit. With only two years as a professional, Aguilar has faced a number of rising stars such as Joseph Elegele, Antonio Orozco and Oscar Cortez among others and is looking to walk away with the title last held by the current WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco.

The semi-event has all the markings of being the fight of the night when undefeated light flyweight Pedro "Pedrin" Guevara (15-0-1, 11KOs) will defend his newly captured NABF title against Manuel "Meny" Jimenez (11-1-1, 5KOs). Mexicali's Jimenez will have the crowd on his side as he tries to stop Guevara from returning to Sinaloa with the title. In his last bout, Jimenez lost his undefeated record versus another Sinaloa native, Mario "Dragoncito" Rodriguez, and is seeking for revenge versus Guevara. Jimenez is considered as one of the best minimum weights in Mexico and owns wins oner world ranked Javier "Cobrita" Mendoza, Julio Cesar Felix and Yader Escobar.

In Guevara, Jimenez will face quite likely his strongest opponent in his professional career. In sixteen fights, only four opponents have heard the last bell since Guevara has knocked out 68% of those he has faced including Charly Valenzuela, the Colombian Karluis Diaz and in his last bout, Jorle Estrada in six heats to conquer the same title he is defending.

In a special attraction, Khabir "Crazy Russian" Suleymanov (11-1, 5KOs) of Chelyabinsk, Russia, will face Jorge Guerrero (6-8, 5KOs) of Agua Prieta, Mexico, in his debut on Mexican soil for eight rounds or less in the super bantamweight limit. Suleymanov, who lives in Los Angeles, California, was a co-champion with his brother at the New York Golden Gloves and his only loss came earlier this year versus world ranked Chris Avalos for the NABA title.

Fleshing out the card, Armando "Chato" Robles (17-1-1, 9KOs) will face Ivan "Zurdo" Alvarez (12-2, 9KOs) for the NABF super lightweight title, Ivan "Ni?o Marvilla" Morales (14-0, 9KOs) versus Ricardo "Rocky" Armenta (15-12-1, 7KOs) for eight rounds at super flyweight, Cesar "Saba" Vazquez (23-0, 14KOs) vs. Victor "Firu" Corvala (7-17-5, 2KOs) for ten heats at super featherweight, #9 WBC ranked Javier "Cobrita" Mendoza (14-2, 11KOs) against Rigoberto "Planchitas" Casillas (7-6-1, 5KOs) in an eight round minimum weight bout and super flyweight Jose Estrella (9-2, 8KOs) versus an opponent to be determined.

Four more fights are scheduled.
