TALISAY CITY BOXING TEAM GEARING UP FOR 2011 BATANG PINOY VISAYAS LEG

Amateur pugs from Talisay City, Cebu are on heavy training for the Visayas leg of the newly relaunched Batang Pinoy 2011, set on November 10-13 in Dumaguete City.
Kiddiewieght Almer Dabon, cottonweight Marvin Pumar, antweight Kit Garces, minimumweight Marco Pumar, mosquiotoweight Joshua Bacus and light paperweight Lemart Timario comprise the team, mentored by father-and-son tandem of coaches Gideon and Rashid Bacus.
The boxing gym of Engr. Yanie Sta. Cruz in Lawa-an, Talisay City serves as the training hub for the boxers, who will be up against the best in the Visayas area as teams from powerhouse Bacolod City, Bago City, Maasin City and nearby Cebu City are expected to join the competition. Gold medal winners of the said event get a chance to earn automatic slots to the National Championships on December 10-13 in Naga City. (Felman R. Gingoyon)
