Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello won the WBC Silver minimumweight title with a stunning first round knockout win over Carlos Perez of Mexico in a fight held at Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
Promoter Aljoe Jaro, who was euphoric over his boxer?s triumph, e-mailed philboxing of the fight details and sent pictures of the event.
?The knockout happened in 147 seconds.? Jaro wrote, ?First it was a left straight that landed, then an uppercut to the body. Perez could never get up. They call Denver an animal here in Mexico. They thought he was just a small child walking around the streets here.?
?They actually like Denver even if he doesn?t speak Spanish.? Jaro added. ?He smiles a lot, very friendly but shows no fear. They say he?s like an animal.?
?The plan of CANELO PROMOTIONS is on December 10, a world title fight against Ganigan Lopez. This is the date they got from TELIVISA TV here. But Kazuto Ioka plans to defend his WBC world title on DECEMBER 13 before moving up in weight. So, I guess we?ll fight and defend the Silver belt here and then go for a world title in 2012.? Jaro also informed, ?We?ll leave Oct. 17 for Las Vegas, then go Vancouver the next day then Manila, we?ll arrive 5 AM PR 107 PAL.?
Cuello joins a short list of Pinoys winning a WBC Silver title bout in Mexico. Previous winners were Edrin Dapudong and Sylvester Lopez.
