DODIE BOY JR. DOMINATES BLOODY BRAWL VS JIMENEZ By Chito Yu Katangkatang PhilBoxing.com Sun, 26 Jun 2011 Dodie Boy Pe?alosa Jr. showed us why he is the most exciting rookie boxer in town. After the opening bell, he wasted no second in entertaining the crowd by going straight to business pummeling his opponent Jeffrey Jimenez like there was no tomorrow. Pe?alosa continued the barrage despite receiving several clean counters from his opponent. An accidental headbutt towards the end of the round opened a huge cut on Dodie Jr's left eyebrow causing him to bleed profusely. The fight was closed to being stopped due to the severe cut thus possibly ending in a no contest but Pe?alosa and his corner showed his determination to finish the fight and got the nod of the ringside physician. Pe?alosa continued his ring domination in the following rounds despite a bloodied face and a hindered eyesight, but sensed that fighting toe to toe would expose his cut more and lead to his disadvantage. Showing the character of a thinking fighter, he put up a better defense and darted in and out while delivering power punches. Sensing the good chin of his opponent, Dodie attacked Jimenez's body and threw a perfect timed left hook to the liver which sent Jimenez down to the canvass for good. The anxious Cebuano crowd gave their hero a standing ovation after another thrilling victory. His new record stands at W5-L0-D0-KO5. With the impressive win, GMA Network assured Pe?alosa more support in his upcoming fights. Pe?alosa is sheduled for another fight by the end of July against a yet to be named but preferably foreign opponent. In the supporting bout undefeated bantamweight Marvin Mabait of Congressman Erbie Fabian's Blue Stallion Stable showed class and flamboyance in the ring by boxing his way and ending the night with a 7th round knock out over Aljun Salugaol. Mabait featured ring intelligence by using quick jabs and several power punches in the preceding rounds before sending Salugaol to the canvass in the 7th round with a clean left straight abdominal punch. Salugaol managed to beat the count but Mabait smelled blood and showered Salugaol with a flurry of punches which prompted the referee to stop the fight at 1:05 of the seventh round.
