Saludar affirms, Marcial returns
By Epifanio M. Almeda PhilBoxing.com Sun, 29 May 2011
WBO World Youth Flyweight Champion Froilan "The Sniper" Saludar affirms his world championship caliber by knocking out Indonesian boxer Jack Amesa with a right hook to body after a combination of shots intended to end the fight early at the Imus, Cavite covered court last night, 28 May 2011. Saludar's record now stands at 12 wins, no loss, 1 draw, with 9 KOs.
As in his previous fights in the same venue, the Imus crowd led by Imus Mayor Homer Saquilayan and many of the Imus Municipality officials who have been used to seeing Froilan end his fights with impressive first or second round knockouts, erupted in exultation and approval of yet another world class boxing exhibited by Saludar. The fight was supposed to be for 10 rounds and Saludar's title was not at stake. But even if Froilan's fights are for 10 rounds or over, the Imus crowd is now expecting his fights to end spectacularly in the 1st or 2nd round. And Froilan, again, did not disappoint them.
Former WBO Oriental Interim Lightweight Champion Anthony "Rock" Marcial returns with an equally impressive 2nd round stoppage of Cris Alag. Marcial was inactive for quiet sometime after suffering a hand bone fracture which had to be operated. Marcial kept fit while out of fights at the Top Contended Boxing Gym with the guidance of his trainer/manager Joven H. Jimenez. When I mentioned to SGG Promotion President Sammy Gello-ani that Marcial is a world championship prospect, Sammy agreed that indeed he is.
Also present to witness the event was WBO Asia-Pacific Vice-President Leon Panoncillo, Jr.
