WORLD CHAMPION DONNIE NIETES AT PSA FORUM

PhilBoxing.com

WBO Minimum Weight World Champion Donnie "Ahas" Nietes of the Philippines yesterday graced the weekly Philippine Sports Writers Association (PSA) Forum at Shakey's U.N. Avenue branch in the nations capital Manila.

Nietes along with international promoter and CEO of ALA Promotions Michael Aldeguer were invited to the forum to talk about world champion Nietes' up and coming fight against Armando Vasquez of Mexico scheduled April 9, 2011 at the St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City where the prize fighter hails from.

This will be the first fight for Nietes in the light flyweight division where he will now be campaigning at. Should Nietes win the bout against Vasquez, he will be challenging the winner of the championship bout between Jesus Gelez of Columbia vs Mario Rodriguez of Mexico this coming April 30, 2011 in Mexico.

ALA Promotions CEO Michael Aldeguer also talked about the thrust of promoting not just ALA Gym fighters but other Filipino fighters and foreign boxers as well. The Philippines biggest boxing promotional outfit already has signed two time world champion Katsunari Takayama of Japan and just recently signed Braveheart fighters WBO Oriental Featherweight Champion Lorenzo Villanueva and WBO world # 2 ranked minimum weight Rommel Ansejo.

Villanueva will debut with ALA Promotions and will be putting his WBO Oriental Featherweight title on the line against African Ramadhani Shauri as one of the main under cards of ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports' PINOY PRIDE 5: BATTLE OF CHAMPIONS. He is considered to be one of the country's top prospects with an amazing record of W 19 (KO 18) L 0 D 0.

Another championship bout will also be featured where Filipino teen sensation Junior welterweight Jason Pagara likewise will put his WBO Youth Asia Pacific Junior Welterweight title up for grabs when he tangles with another African in Deo Njiku in the supporting main event.

PINOY PRIDE 5: BATTLE OF CHAMPIONS is a proud presentation of ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports and will be shown on ABS-CBN Channel 2 10 to 12nn on April 10, 2011 and on Studio 23 at 2 to 4 pm.
