ALA ROOKIES CONTINUE WINNING STREAK
PhilBoxing.com Sun, 20 Mar 2011

Cebu City- Albert Pagara, Boyce Sultan and Roma Rate can easily be mistaken for altar boys. On the surface, they don?t seem the type that can instil the fear of God in the opposing corner. But the terrible trio continue to win and scored bone-chilling knockout wins last Saturday to open PINOY PRIDE 4 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.
Roma Rate opened the festivities with first round TKO win over Camilo Rey Se?eres. A single right hook sent Se?eres down; he did beat the count but was standing on wobbly legs, prompting the referee to halt the bout at the 1:39 mark.
In his pro debut last January, the former Michael Romarate won by TKO at 1:09 of the 4th round over Rando Espeleta at the I.T. Park in Lahug, Cebu City.
Francis Solis took the fight to Boyce Sultan and had some semblance of success in the opening round.
But in the second, Sultan trapped Solis in a corner and unleashed a brutal volley. Solis was on all fours when he was counted out at 49 seconds of the round. Medical personnel attended to the losing boxer.
In his pro debut, Sultan won by unanimous decision over Justin Gacos.
Albert Pagara (in topmost photo)dropped Pablo Rey Se?eres twice in the opening round and the referee signalled the end at 2:21.
In his first pro fight, also at the I.T. Park last January, Pagara used a hard liver shot and won by TKO in 32 seconds of the second round over Sandy Cajil. Then together with elder brother Jason, he would fight in the undercard of PINOY PRIDE 3 and knock out Jeffrey Galsim with a left hook to the ribs in the first round.
If you?re wondering where these kids are coming from, two pairs of young amateur boxers from the ALA Boxing Grassroots Program served as curtain raisers for PINOY PRIDE 4.
