OPBF CHAMP ROCKY FUENTES TO BATTLE INDON CHAMP MAR. 19 PhilBoxing.com Mon, 07 Mar 2011  Current OPBF Flyweight Champion Rocky Fuentes of Mambaling, Cebu City is in his final preparations for his upcoming ten rounds battle with Indonesian Jemmy ?Boom Boom? Gobel. After a very impressive and successful 2010 campaign of winning the OPBF Flyweight Championship early last year against Masafumi Okubo and defending it twice against Japanese Shigetaka Ikehara and Yasuto Aritomi, Fuentes has set his goals higher this year and hopes to get the same or even better results as the previous year. It has been a roller coaster career for the Cebuano native who sports a deceiving record of W 28 (KO 18) L 6 D 2 winning his first eight fights then dropping three of his next six fights and two ending in draws. After soul searching coupled with a horse like work ethic, Fuentes has moved up the ladder and has caught the attention of all major boxing bodies where he has been rated in the top ten fighters of his division. He is rated number 7 in the IBF, number 6 in the WBA, number 4 in the WBO and number 3 in the WBC. The journey continues for this 25 year old warrior as he again is set to enter the arena of the gladiator sport of boxing this March 19, 2011 for the PINOY PRIDE 4: Philippines vs The World where is he is set to face Indonesia?s version of Boom Boom in Jemmy Gobel, the current Indonesian Super Flyweight Champion. This match-up will surely be a dandy as both fighters are known not to back down from any fight. Champion versus champion. Gobel who is the Indonesia Professional Boxing Commission Super Flyweight Champion is no stranger to brawling as he has faced the likes of Ali Rochmad and Former PABA Super Champion Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat, Nouldy Manakane and Pramuansak Posuwan. A veteran with 27 fights under his belt, Gobel brings a lot to the table as he has the experience to back him up. He is coming from a majority decision win against Indonesia?s Dicky Mau.
