Diale?s Promoter Optimistic and Undeterred by Underdog Status By Daniel Quindao Guden PhilBoxing.com Sat, 26 Feb 2011 Arden Diale of the Philippines will enter the ring with the ?underdog? tag and faces a tough task in his attempt to dethrone WBO Flyweight champion Julio Cesar "Pingo" Miranda of Mexico this Sunday Manila Time. Promoter Sammy Gelloani said that Diale is ready and cannot wait for his chance to fight for a world title but is a bit worried about the Mexicans' plan for payback, ?"Diale is now ready and highly motivated but likewise pressured since the Mexicans are hoping for a win of Pingo Miranda to equalize the sad loss of Montiel from Donaire" "I just hope and pray that Diale instead will add another title for the Country". The 22 year old Diale (14-5-2) is from Digos, Davao del Sur but was born in Malungon, Sarangani Province Southern Philippines. He is the current WBO Oriental Flyweight champion. He won the title by stopping Jermie Jabel in 3 rounds in North Cotabato. He rated no. 8 in the World Boxing Organization (WBO), rated no. 42 in the North American Boxing Association (NABA) and rated no. 43 in the International Boxing Organization (IBO). The 30 year old Miranda (34-5-1) , from Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, will make his third title defense. He won the vacant title with a 5th round TKO win over Richie Mepranum last Hunyo 12 at the Centro de Convenciones, Puebla, Mexico. Miranda lost to current IBF flyweight champion Moruthi Mthalane of South Africa in 2009. Diale is managed by Dante Almario, a boxing promoter and former Muntinlupa City councillor and trained by Danilo Pena. He weighed in at 111.5 lbs while Miranda tipped the scales at the flyweight limit of 112 lbs. Diale has been quoted as saying that "Miranda is a great champion, but on Saturday he will have to face a Filipino with far more heart Filipino and quality. The belt is going back to the Philippines" Diale is a ?kababayan? of boxing icon and Sarangani representative Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao. Other Filipino boxers ranked by the WBO are Brian "Hawaiian Punch" Viloria (no. 1), Rocky "Road Warrior" Fuentes (no. 6) and Froilan "The Sniper" Saludar.
