DANNY "SWIFT" GARCIA HEADLINES "S?LO BOXEO TECATE" ON FEBRUARY 25 AGAINST JOHN FIGUEROA IN SAN DIEGO

PhilBoxing.com

CO-FEATURED BOUT IS A BATTLE OF UNBEATEN PROSPECTS MARCO ANTONIO PERIBAN AND DION SAVAGE

Plus San Diego's Rising Stars Pablo Armenta and A.J. Matthews Featured In Separate Undercard Bouts

LOS ANGELES, February 21 - TeleFutura's "S?lo Boxeo Tecate" returns to San Diego with another action-packed event featuring Philadelphia's top undefeated junior welterweight prospect Danny "Swift" Garcia steps into the ring against John Figueroa of Puerto Rico at the Four Points Sheraton in San Diego, California on Friday, February 25.

The eight round main event features 19-0 junior welterweight Danny "Swift" Garcia as he risks his perfect record against Puerto Rico's John Figueroa. The co-feature is a highly anticipated meeting of unbeaten prospects with super middleweights Marco Antonio Periban and Dion Savage colliding in an eight round battle.

Also in action will be local favorites Pablo Armenta of Chula Vista and Carlsbad's A.J. Matthews in separate undercard bouts.

This night of world-class professional boxing is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate and AT&T. The doors open at 6:00pm and the first bell rings at 7:00pm and the TeleFutura broadcast begins at 11:30pm ET / PT (10:30pm CT).

Tickets, priced starting at $25, are on sale now and available for purchase at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel Gift Store or by calling (858) 277-8888 or (619) 420-8866.

Fans at home can also be part of the action by participating in Cintur?n Tecate and voting for the fighter in the main event who displayed the most character in the ring by sending a text message to 55333. Voting will be open through the end of the weekend.

Philadelphia's latest fighting star, Danny "Swift" Garcia (19-0, 13 KO's) began to make his move prospect to contender in 2010 and after victories over Ashley Theophane (W10), Jorge Romero (TKO9) and Mike Arnaoutis (KO4), the 22-year-old proved that he was ready for the best in the division. On February 25, he will face Salinas, Puerto Rico's John Figueroa (7-8-3, 3 KO's), a rugged 30-year-old who has been in tough battles with hot prospects Luis Ramos Jr. and Carlos Molina in his last two fights. Figueroa is planning on testing another hot prospect in Garcia on Friday night and will look to deal him his first professional loss.

Mexico City's Marco Antonio Periban (10-0, 7 KO's) is one of the top young fighters to emerge from his country in recent years and a 2010 that saw him go 4-0 with three knockouts only built his reputation further. An exciting warrior who likes nothing better than a good ol' fashioned slugfest, Periban is coming off of an 80 second knockout of Darnell Boone last December, and now he's ready to make his United States debut on February 25.

24-year-old Flint, Michigan native Dion Savage (10-0, 6 KO's) has built a solid resume for himself since turning professional in 2007 and now he's looking to take the next step in his career by beating Periban. A prot?g? of renowned trainer Roger Mayweather, the ultra-talented Savage matched Periban's 4-0 record last year, but now somebody's "0" must go in San Diego.

With four of his five professional fights having taken place at the Four Points Sheraton, it goes without saying that featherweight Pablo "Bronco" Armenta (4-0-1, 5 KO's) is a crowd pleasing favorite. Fresh off of a hard-fought four round win over Ronald Hurley last November, Armenta is back home and looking to set off some fireworks in the ring in a four round fight against an opponent to be named.

An unbeaten mixed martial arts fighter with a growing following, Carlsbad's A.J. Matthews is now looking to test himself in the boxing ring and he will get his opportunity on February 25 when he makes his professional debut in a four round bout against an opponent to be announced.

Tecate, cerveza con car?cter, is the largest beer brand to sponsor boxing matches in the U.S. Part of its commitment to make boxing accessible to consumers is the title sponsorship of "S?lo Boxeo Tecate," which creates an opportunity for local fans to witness some of the most exhilarating fights by today's up-and-coming prospects. Additionally, Tecate has been a primary supporter of Golden Boy Promotions' marquee events since 2007, and has launched a variety of initiatives to ensure consumers are part of the boxing experience, including boxer autograph signing sessions, commemorative cans, PPV mail-in rebate offers, and most recently the launch of a mobile museum "Tecate Museo de Boxeo," which showcases decades of the most memorable moments in the sport.
