MGM HOSTS ?WARRIORS? BOXING EVENT

PhilBoxing.com

LAS VEGAS -- Mexican warrior and unified world lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez will excite boxing fans once again in a championship fight against Australian warrior Michael Katsidis (27(22KO), 2(1KO),0) on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at MGM Grand Garden Arena boxing event billed the ?Warriors.?

Marquez who is 37 years of age has a record of 51 wins, 5 losses,1 draw with 37 knockouts while Katsidis who is only 30 years old has a record of 27 wins, 2 losses and 0 draw with 22 knockouts.

One of Marquez? losses and a draw came in the hands of Filipino Manny Pacquiao, no doubt the best pound for pound boxer in the world with his recent conquer of Mexican Antonio Margarito in his 8th division title in the light middleweight just a week ago.

One of Katsidis? wins, on the other hand, was when he fought a very exciting and full of action 12-round fight against Filipino Czar Amonsot on July 21, 2007 at Mandalay Bay and Casino for the interim WBO lightweight title. At this fight Amonsot was diagnosed with a concussion and did not fight in America ever since. However, he continued his training and his belief of redemption awarded him with the WBO Asia Pacific lightweight title when he stopped Thai Sirichai Ekchumpol in the 2nd round of their schedule 12-round fight in all places, in Victoria, Australia in his fourth fight after his clash with Katsidis.

The common denominators between Marquez and Katsidis recent fights are former world champions Cuban Joel Casamayor and Texan Juan ?Baby Bull? Diaz. While Katsidis succumbed to both of them, Marquez tamed them.

The ?Warriors? grand arrival in Las Vegas will be on Tuesday, November 23 at MGM Grand Main Lobby and the official weigh-in will be on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and the public is invited to attend at both events.

Doors will be opened on Saturday at 3:00 pm PT and the first fight begins at approximately the same time. The HBO telecast begins at 6:45 pm PT.
