BORICUA LEGENDS TITO TRINIDAD AND WILFREDO GOMEZ SHOW SUPPORT FOR JUANMA AT MGM GRAND

PhilBoxing.com

What is more fitting to grace today?s weigh-in at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas than the presence of the two greatest boxers who came out from Puerto Rico, 3-division world champion Felix ?Tito? Trinidad (42(35KO),3,0) and also a 3-division world champion and international Boxing Hall of Fame member Wilfredo ?Bazooka? Gomez (44(42KO),3,1).

Both fighters animated the crowd who kept on shouting their names as they were introduced. Of course, they were there for their countryman and defending WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez (29 (26KO),0,0) who will slug it out against an experience and tough challenger, Mexican Rafael Marquez (39(35KO),5(4KO),0). The two protagonists both weigh-in at 125.5 pounds, half-pound lighter than the weight limit of 126 pounds for tomorrow?s World Featherweight championship title bout.

?JuanMa is going to stop Marquez in 3-5 rounds. Maybe, up to the 8th round,? Trinidad said when I interviewed him after the weigh-in. When I asked who is going to win between Pacquiao and Margarito, he said ?Pacquiao is my favoritie boxer and he is going to stop Margarito before the 8th round.?

In another 12-round bout at super middleweight division, American Allan Green came in at 168 pounds while his opponent, Jamaican Glen Johnson came in at 167 pounds.

In the lightweight division, Mexican Marvin Quintero and Nigerian Daniel Attah both weigh-in at 133 pounds for their 10-round bout. Also, Mickey Bey from Ohio and Puerto Rican Eric Cruz both came in at 132 pounds for their 6-round fight.
Las Vegas favorite and undefeated Diego Magdaleno and his opponent from Kansas, Derrick Campos both weigh-in at 131 pounds for their super featherweight bout.

Another Puerto Rican, Mcwilliams Arroyo and another Mexican Cesar Grajeda both came in at 112 pounds for their flyweight 6-round bout.

In the light welterweight division, Las Vegan Anthony Lenk came in at 143 pounds but his opponent, Californian Dany Escobar was overweight at 147 pounds as of press time.

To complete today?s weigh-in, Jesse Magdaleno came in at 124.5 pounds and Matthew Salazar came in at 123 pounds for their 4-round featherweight bout.

Some tickets are still available and are on sale at all Las Vegas Ticketmaster locations, select Smith?s Food and Drug Centers and Ritmo Latino), by phone with a major credit card at (800) 745-3000 and online at www.mgmgrand.com and www.ticketmaster.com.
