PINOY PRIDE: 'MIGHTY MARK' FROM VEGAS TO CEBU
PhilBoxing.com Sun, 17 Oct 2010

?What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas?. Such will not be the case for young Filipino boxer and TOP RANK talent Mark Jason Melligen who has been campaigning in the United States and making Las Vegas his second home for the past year.
Come October 30, 2010 in the supporting main event of the highly anticipated mega-boxing event PINOY PRIDE, ?Mighty Mark? Melligen is set to parade his boxing skills and make things happen against Mexican knock-out expert Bladimir ?The Blade? Hernandez in a 10 round welterweight bout wherein the stakes are much higher with the Philippines vs Mexico rivalry in the spotlight once again.
Melligen (W 19 (KO 13) L 2 (1) d 0), who fights under the premier boxing promotions outfit TOP RANK has fought 6 out of his last 8 fights in Vegas winning all but one fight where he lost to Michel Rosales of Mexico via split decision fighting after the infamous Gorres-Melendez match-up wherein Gorres almost lost his life.
The Bacolod born Melligen have won his last three fights after his loss knocking out Raymond Gatica in six and schooling prospects Norberto Gonzales and Anges Adjaho in unanimous decision wins. It will be a sort of homecoming for the Mighty Mark as TOP RANK has allowed him to fight once in the Philippines before he resumes his campaign overseas.
Bladimir Hernandez (W 18 (KO 16) L 3 (3) D 0), nicknamed The Blade, is one very dangerous adversary for the Filipino Melligen as he has a very imposing 76.19 knock-out percentage. Out of his 16 KO wins, 14 failed to last more than 3 rounds. He also has registered 6 1st round KO?s to boast.
The Blade from Chihuahua, Mexico has fought the 3 best world rated fighters in his division WBC no. 11 Michael Medina (TKO 2), Canadian boxing sensation David Lemieux (W 23 (KO 22) L 0) and won against Jose Luis Cruz who has fought the likes of Joshua Clottey, Shane Mosley and Carlos Baldomir where he fought to a draw.
PINOY PRIDE is presented to you by ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports and will be shown to a worldwide audience via The Filipino Channel through ABS-CBN GLOBAL. (PR)
