BON JOVI CANILLAS: THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK PhilBoxing.com Fri, 15 Oct 2010 Fast rising Filipino Super Bantamweight ?Bon Jovi? Canillas is set to fight fellow countryman Ramie Laput in the under card of the highly anticipated boxing event ?PINOY PRIDE? on October 30, 2010 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino presented by ALA Promotions and the giant television network ABS-CBN Sports. Canillas (W 15 (KO 13) L 2 (1) D 0) will be testing his raw power and unrelenting resolve when he clashes with the more experienced veteran Ramie Laput (W 38 (KO 17) L 4 (KO 2) D 0). Bon Jovi, as he is fondly called by his peers is riding on a seven fight winning streak with all these fights ending in spectacular knock-outs. The youthful Canillas has strung up four knock-out wins this year alone that started with a 2nd round TKO win against Thailand?s Petch Twins Gym at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino early this year, a six round pounding of Tanzanian Fred Sayuni at The Lodge Chi Garden in the United Arab Emirates and back to back wins against countrymen Dexter Mendoza and Prell Tupas ending both fights in less than two rounds making him one of the busiest fighters this year. Ramie Laput on the other hand will be a threat to Canillas? winning streak though as this Davaoeneo boasts of a very solid record and also had a very impressive winning streak of 23 winning the interim WBO Asia Pacific Bantamweight title and the WBO Inter-Continental Super Bantamweight title twice before losing it to German-based fighter from Hungary Zsolst Bedak in Austria in December of 2009. Canillas did not start organized boxing until he walked in as a 17 year old at the ALA Gym in Cebu. It has been a long and hard road for the young Bon Jovi Canillas from Lutopan, Cebu and all his tireless persistence is steadily paying off. Come October 30, 2010, This New Kid on the Block will be showing the world if he is ready to take it to the next level and towards boxing glory. |
