PORNOBNUM MAY CHALLENGE WBA INTERIM FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sun, 21 Mar 2010
Pan Asian Boxing Association flyweight champion Wisanu Pornobnum of Thailand may challenge WBA Interim champion Juan Carlos Reveco of Argentina in the near future.
Thai media quoted Pornobnum’s well known promoter Kokiet Panichayarom as saying he is planning to have Wisanu challenge the interim title holder and has already made a proposal and sent Wisanu’s fight records to the Argentinean team.
Kokiet indicated that if his proposal is accepted by the handlers of Reveco the title fight would be held in Thailand this May.
The promoter was impressed by Pornobnum’s successful PABA title defense in which he scored a unanimous decision over Indonesian challenger Ichal Tobidal.
The PABA champion won handily on the scorecards of all three judges, 119-110,118-109 and 117-110.
It was the Thai fighter’s seventh successful defense of the vacant title he with a twelve round unanimous decision over Ricky Manufoe of Indonesia on June 8, 2007.
Pornobnum was the same fighter who suffered a stinging fourth round TKO in an Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation title eliminator against flashy Z “The Dream” Gorres on October 29, 2005 in Mandaue City.
