Saga in Naga 3 Fight Card Official Weigh-In Thursday

PhilBoxing.com

Egera (L) and Petch.

The main protagonists and preliminary fighters of the SAGA 3 in Naga boxing event will be having their official weigh-in this Thursday afternoon 1 PM at the GV Tower Hotel in Cebu City.

The event will feature two vacant regional championships- the WBO Asia-Pacific Superflyweight Championship fight between Jason Egera and Petch Kokietgym and the WBO Asia-Pacific Jr. Lightweight fight between Rey Labao and Jesus Muzaka Singwancha. The Egera vs Kokietgym fight is a rematch as Egera won over Petch last May 28 by split decision in a non-title bout at the Cebu Coliseum.

The hard punching Labao is being trained by the world-class trainer, Nonito Donaire, Sr. and is groomed for possible fights abroad. However, Labao has to prove that he has what it takes against world-class fighters. Jesus Singwancha, hails from Democratic Republic of the Congo, but has chosen to reside in Thailand. He will Labao's first acid test under Dodong Donaire.

Another intriguing match-up is the rematch between Federico Catubay and Thailand's Pramaunsak Pohsuwan . Catubay will try to get back at Pohsuwan as he lost in their first fight in Thailand four years ago. Pohsuwan lost in his last fight to Jose "Carita" Lopez by 12 round unanimous decision last March for the WBO Superflyweight world title. This is the same Lopez that Marvin Sonsona will face this September. Sizing up Pohsuwan would serve as a "preview" for that title bout.

There will be a toal of eight supporting bouts including a six rounder between South Korean Jonghwa Lee and Andy Seneres. The fights will be held this Friday, July 31st in Naga City, Cebu. The show will start at exactly 5:00 p.m. July 31, 2009 to enable the live satellite feed to Thailand by 6:00 p.m.

The event is promoted by SGG Sports Promotions and Kokietgym of Thailand. This will be televised live to Thailand and other neighboring Asian countries and will be shown on delayed telecast a week later on TKO program - Saturday - CCTN 47 - INTV at 5:45 - 6:45 p.m. Tickets are priced at - ringside at P100.00; upperbox - P 50.00 and gen. admission - P 30.00.
