BANAL TO FACE FORMER WORLD CHAMP ON MAY 16 PhilBoxing.com Tue, 05 May 2009 After the awesome performance of this charismatic Manny Pacquiao - the talented youngster AJ Banal who idolizes the Pacman is more determined than ever to prove to his detractors that he is back! After suffering a temporary set back when he lost a 10th round stoppage to Rafael Concepcion in a battle for the WBA Super flyweight interim title in July 26 of last year, Banal has defused any doubts that he is back on track when he kayoed Indonesia champion Nouldy Manakane in the 4rth round last January 31st in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. The unfazed 20 years old Banal is again tasked to face another acid test when he tangles with the dangerous Tanzanian terror, Mbwana ?African Golden Boy? Matumla in another ALA Promotions extravaganza on May 16 at the Cebu Coliseum in partnership with the giant broadcast network ABS/CBN. Matumla who is a former IBO World Super-flyweight champion, the WBA Pan-African Super-flyweight champion, the former WBA Intercontinental Super-flyweight champion and the former Pan Asian Boxing Association (PABA) 115 lbs. champion is out to derail any comeback plans of the Cebuano ringsters. The multi-titled African who has fought the best in his division including a win over the veteran Filipino champion, Eric Barcelona whom he decisioned to grab the IBO World Super-flyweight title is not to be taken lightly as he is out to dislodged Banal from his lofty world ratings. ?I vow to stop Banal. I am stronger and more experience and I am a former world champion?, exudes the confident Matumla who seems unfazed of the knockout prowess of the powerful-punching Cebuano. In the undercard, another come -backing ALA ward, Czar Amonsot makes his second appearance after demolishing Indonesian, Zoel Fidal in the 5th round when he collides with 28 years old, Morris ?Virus? Chule of Kenya who has a record of 11-6-2 with 8 knockouts. The African warrior is coming off a back to back win over Musa Njure and Omari Ramadan whom he both stopped. In the opening salvo of the triple main event, the teenage phenom Jason Pagara will attempt to claim another victim when he faces Indonesian champion Hero Katili who is no stranger to Cebu boxing fans as he bested Doo-Suk Oh of Korea in his fight at the Waterfront Hotel last August 30, 2007. It will be a clash of two ?heavies? as Pagara and Katili will be fighting at the Jr. Welterweight level with the fight not expected to last the distance.
