CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY FOR ABA'S LAPUT

WBO no. 12 superbantamweight and WBO Asia Pacific champion Ramie Laput got his Christmas wish early after winning the vacant WBO InterContinental Jr Featherweight Title over a tough but outclassed Donriel Marcos December 21st in Digos City.
Laput, who is managed by American Ken Smith controlled the bout from the opening round and never lost control throughout the 12 round WBO title fight. Marcos who entered the ring with a 10-2 record according to boxrec was game and never quit even being clearly hurt several times by uppercuts and short crushing hooks inside. Laput moved brilliantly using a punishing jab, as the determined but out gunned Marcos attempted to bullrush Laput until the final bell.
Laput who is currently rated WBO #12, as well as WBC #19 will most certainly see his stock rise after bagging his second WBO regional title in as many months. WBO Asia Pacific and WBO Africa head man Leon Pononcilo was present to award the prestigous WBO InterCont belt to Laput.
"Leon told me that we are doing the right things for Ramie's career, and knowing what Leon has already done for the fighters in the Philippines, I am confident that Laput will soon fight for the WBO world title," said ABA founder Ken Smith.
Laput's current 35 wins 3 loss record is among the top records in the Philippines only behind currently the greatest pound for pound fighter on the planet, Manny Paquiao.
