PBF CHAMPIONSHIP IN MAASIN CITY TODAY

The annual birthday celebration of Southern Leyte Gov. Damian G. Mercado will again be highlighted with a professional boxing card on November 20, 2008 at the Maasin City Gymnasium. Gov. Mercado was the former city mayor of Maasin and now the province?s chief executive. It was a tradition which has continued up to now as sponsored by the Maasin City Sports Council and the Maasin City Government.
The city?s local bet Adonis Aguelo will slug it out with Tiny Tyson of Cagayan de Oro City in a Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) interim super bantamweight championship. Aguelo, who hails from Barangay Matin-ao, Maasin City, has a professional record of 3-0-1 with 2 wins by knockout.
Aguelo, slated to follow the footsteps of the late PBF lightflyweight Champion Alex ?Maasin Bomber? Aroy, had wins over Reggie Campos, JR Mamulang, and Randy Megrino and a draw with Jose Ocampo.
Tiny Tyson originally was from Jagna, Bohol and now sports a pro record of 4-5-1 with one win via KO. The fight is sanctioned by the Games and Amusements Board and will be supervised by Rolando Mendoza of GAB Cebu. It will be promoted by the Maasin City Sports Council through Rex Wakee Salud International Promotions initiated by matchmaker Willie Flores.
In the supporting bout, Michael Ramos of Maasin City will take his professional debut against Hector Rojoca of Bohol and Jaime Bermiso of Bato, Leyte will face Marlo Talili of Bohol.
There will be ten amateur bouts to spice up the boxing card featuring Maasin City boxers versus pugilists from Matalom and Bato, Leyte.
