3 Top NorthCot Boxers Meet Thai Fighters PhilBoxing.com Sat, 02 Aug 2008 Kidapawan City, North Cotabato - Three outstanding young boxers from North Cotabato will see action Aug. 9 against foreign opponents in the picturesque town of Magpet at the foot of the majestic Mt. Apo. Bantamweight Glenn Porras fights Thailand's Jockeylec Sit-soie in a 10-round main event of the card sponsored by the local government of Magpet under Mayor Efren Pinol. Porras, 23, a southpaw with a record of 14 wins, 2 losses and 8 KOs, hopes to score another sensational victory following his 3rd round demolition of Philip Jun Demecillo last month in Midsayap, North Cotabato. In the main undercard, former WBO miniflyweight Asia Pacific Champion Edrin Dapudong goes up against veteran Michael Rodriguez in another 10-round bout. Reynaldo Belandres, 21, and Lorenzo Villanueva, 21, both jr. featherweights will see action for 8 rounds against Thai opponents. Belandres will meet Bureerumpor Palungchai while Villanueva will fight Big M Aor Boonchay. Belandres, 21, holds a clean record of 8 wins with 6 KOs while Villanueva boasts of 8 wins in 8 bouts, all of which ended in knockout. Belandres and Villanueva are considered as North Cotabato's top featherweights and may move to the US for bigger bouts as soon as they gain enough experience. Other bouts: 1. Bantamweight Rolando Magbanua (8 wins, 4 KOs) will figure in a return match with Butuan City's Jerry Manganip. Magbanua won by unanimous decision in their first fight. 2. Minimumweight Rommel Asenjo (7 wins, 2 losses, 6 KOs) will go up against Davao's Roel Honor. 3Junior Bantamweight Ronnie Apilado, 19, (6 wins, 1 loss, 5 KOs will fighty Cirilo Espino for 6 rounds. 4. Bantamweight Rey Juntilla (4 wins 4 KOs) will fight JR Mendoza in 4 rds 118 lbs. 5.Jermie Jabel fights Gerard Ccchib in 4 rounds while Reu Mercado 2 wins, 0 loss) will go up against Leol Sagisa in 4 rounds Porras and the other North Cotabato boxers all belong to the Braveheart Boxing Club owned and managed by North Cotabato Vice Gov.
