FLORES VS. CHAVEZ ENDS IN THRILLING MAJORITY DRAW BEFORE SOLD-OUT COACHELLA VALLEY CROWD PhilBoxing.com Fri, 25 Jul 2025 ![]() LIVE WORLDWIDE ON DAZN FROM FANTASY SPRINGS INDIO, Calif. (July 24, 2025) — In a thrilling main event that had a sold-out crowd on its feet, the 10-round showdown between super bantamweights Manuel “Gucci Manny” Flores (20-1-1, 16 KOs) and the undefeated Jorge “El Niño Dorado” Chavez (14-0-1, 8 KOs) ended in a majority draw, with judges scoring it 93-97, 95-95, and 95-95. The back-and-forth battle headlined Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN, live from a packed Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. “Majority Draw?? What were the judges watching?? They were probably looking down the whole time, ‘cause from where I’m at, I don’t have damage - that’s a headbutt," said Jorge Chavez. "He’s not a heavy puncher. He likes to throw his punches in combos, that’s where he gets you. Now I know, so he’s not gonna touch me at all next time. I want either him right away, or Picasso.” “I had an experience tonight. There’s not much to say, it takes two to tango. If someone’s gonna run all night, it’s gonna be hard to fight somebody," said Manuel Flores. “We’ll run it back anywhere, and we’ll sell it out. I mean, it’s a Thursday night and we sold out the whole show. Next time I’m not gonna show no respect. I showed a little bit too much respect this time, and I started to pick it up at the end. I should’ve done that from the beginning.” In a stunning upset, Farid Ngoga (11-1, 6 KOs) of Phoenix outpointed previously unbeaten Jordan Panthen (11-1, 9 KOs) of Hawaii in a 10-round co-main event. Ngoga won by majority decision, with judges scoring the bout 97-93, 95-95 and 96-94, earning him the WBA Continental Americas Gold super welterweight title. Also on the card, undefeated Coachella Valley super welterweight sensation Grant Flores (11-0, 9 KOs) defeated Rayne, Louisiana’s Todd Manuel (23-24-1, 7 KOs) by second-round TKO at 0:02, after the ringside physician deemed Manuel unfit to continue due to a hand injury. In a six-round welterweight bout on the DAZN broadcast, Cayden Griffiths (6-0, 6 KOs) stopped David Ramirez (18-6, 13 KOs) of Heredia, Costa Rica, in the fourth round at 1:54 with a brutal hook. Cathedral City’s Leonardo “Bazooka” Sanchez (9-0, 7 KOs) added another knockout to his record, stopping Tecate, Mexico’s Abraham Valdez (14-1, 9 KOs). Scheduled for six rounds, Sanchez ended the bout in the fourth at 2:16 with a barrage of punches that prompted the referee to stop the fight. Opening the DAZN card, Fabian Guzman (8-0, 7 KOs) of Orange, California, added another win to his record in a six-round middleweight fight against Villaguay, Argentina’s Brian Arregui (11-6, 7 KOs). Guzman won by unanimous decision with scores of 78-74, 79-73 and 80-72. On the preliminary card, Bryan Lua (3-0-1, 2 KOs) of Indio fought Kevin Piedrahita (10-3-1, 9 KOs) of Pereira, Colombia, in an eight-round lightweight bout. The back-and-forth action ended in a majority draw, with scores of 76-76, 76-76 and 78-74. In the opening fight of the night, Javier Meza (3-0, 2 KOs) of Amarillo, Texas, defeated Cesar Villarraga (11-12-1, 5 KOs) in a six-round welterweight matchup with judges scores of 60-54, 59-55, 60-54. ### Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN was presented by Golden Boy Promotions.
