MARQUEZ, 130; PACQUIAO, 129!
PhilBoxing.com Sat, 15 Mar 2008

Las Vegas -- WBC World champion Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico and Filipino boxing icon and challenger Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines made weight moments ago for their highly anticipated super featherweight title fight Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino here.
Marquez came in at the super featherweight limit of 130 lbs while Pacquiao tipped in at 129 lbs amidst the huge throng of media people covering the fight, hundreds of spectators and Mexican music at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
Marquez and Pacquiao both looked ripped and well conditioned during the weighin and were cordial to each other, ahead of tomorrow's expected brutal showdown, as they met across the weighing stage facing each other during the photo-ops and shaking hands afterwards.
The official weigh-in was supervised by representatives of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) and the World Boxing Council.
House Speaker Prospero Nograles and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) secretary Lito Atienza were among the VIPS from the Philippines that attended the weigh-in where flag-toting supporters of both Marquez and Pacquiao cheered their respective bets and jeered each other.
Texas-based Filipino ring doctor Allan Recto described Marquez as in upbeat mood who egged the crowd to cheer up while Pacquiao was smiling most of the time.
Also present were former world champions Marco Antonio Barrera, Daniel Zarragosa, Shane Mosley, Top Rank big boss Bob Arum, among others. (With reports from Alex P. Vidal)
