NBA -- Jordan Clarkson talks to PhilBoxing By Japheth Bandi PhilBoxing.com Fri, 03 Jan 2020 CHICAGO - Jordan Clarkson has always been a friend to PhilBoxing.com. a relationship that began in 2014 and has since been fostered by our colleague and long-time NBA writer, Homer Sayson. On Thursday night, in front of a rollicking crowd of 20,917 at the world-famous United Center, Clarkson reaffirmed that friendship by allowing us a one-on-one interview that Sayson helped facilitate at the Bulls home court. 1) PhilBoxing.com: Ten days after the trade (from Cleveland to Utah). can you talk about what it's been like adjusting to a new city? Jordan Clarkson: I'm taking it day by day, trying to figure things out...I'm getting into a new place now and having things shipped out and stuff like that. Trying to get things settled. 2) PhilBoxing.com: In Cleveland, you played a lot of 3 under coach John Beilien. Can you tell us what was that like and also, do you see yourself playing more of the guard positions here in Utah? Jordan Clarkson: I mean I don't think to the point of playing the 3 when I'm out on the floor. Just being out there, plays being called, it's the same thing for me. It's becoming position-less basketball now so when I'm out there, there's no 1, 2 and 3. I'm just out there. 3) PhilBoxing.com: At the end of this year, your contract is expiring. I know it's gonna be on the back of your mind. How much does that play a role, do you try to let it play a role, what's the mindset on that? Jordan Clarkson: I ain't worried about that. I don't worry about the next day. That's it. 4) PhilBoxing.com: You've improved your 3-point shooting from 32 percent last season to 37 percent this season. What do you attribute that to? Jordan Clarkson: Probably shooting more, working out. I fell like I'm taking more and they're going in. 5) PhilBoxing.com: Can you talk about the Gilas national team. Any thoughts on that moving forward? Jordan Clarkson: I played in the Asian Games. I missed the World Cup. Sometime in the future I'm coming back there. 6) PhilBoxing.com: Anything you want to say something to your fans in the Philippines? Jordan Clarkson: Thank you for the support. I'm grateful for all that. Clarkson, 27, is playing on the last year of a four-year deal he originally signed with the Los Angeles Lakers last July. His salary this season is a staggering $12.5 million. If he continues to play well, he will command a top dollar value in the free agency market.
