Pacquiao and Marquez Autograph Hundreds of Gloves for the Promoters
By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Wed, 16 Jan 2008
LOS ANGELES -- It is a known fact that success of a boxing promotion depends on how it is promoted. Thus, the duo promotional companies, Bob Arum's Top Rank and Oscar de la Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions are leaving no stones unturned to assure that the March 15, 2008 fight dubbed as ?Unfinished Business? will live up to all what is expected of it.
The promoters are talking about the possibility of the fight ending up as the highest PPV in record before a sell out crowd at the Mandalay Bay Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
To achieve these ends, they are organizing a series of press conferences and promotional extravaganzas across the United States and Mexico.
Manny Pacquiao (L) signs hundreds of gloves as trainer Buboy Fernandez (R) and a couple of guests look on.
They are also talking about perks for people who spend great amounts of money to be part of the show. Amongst these people are those who buy the most expensive tickets and/or are co-sponsors of the event.
Part of the perks for such people are Everlast Gloves personally signed by Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao.
Today, prior to the Press Conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Marquez and Pacquiao signed hundreds of gloves.
?We will give them away as perks,? someone from the promotions said when we ask why they are so many signed gloves.
