TENSIONS REACH BOILING POINT AS FIGHTERS FACE OFF

PhilBoxing.com

THERE WAS PLENTY OF FEELING as Herman Ene-Purcell and Will Nasio eye balled each other at today's weigh in. In a an obvious sign of how much is on the line when photographers asked both fighters to face the front for a photo they ignored the request and went forehead to forehead before being separated.

The anticipation, the hype, the passion was there for all to see.

We're now less than twenty four hours before all the questions are answered.

Will Nasio told the media "I'm feeling relaxed, I'm at peace, coming here today I was at peace because I know I've done everything I can."

"I'm ready for whatever."

Ene-Purcell said: " I feel really good, I'm ready, it's now the waiting game, I'm good to go."

"I believe I should've won that first fight, now I've got a big opportunity to prove that.

"I'm really hungry."

It's one of the most anticipated re-matches in Aussie boxing. The first fight was a classic, Will Nasio overcoming a round one knock down to score a round four TKO and earning the Queensland title.

Now the stakes have been raised with the Australasian title on the line.

Another highlight on the huge card is the battle between the top two ranked fighters in the ANBF lightweight division Brent Rice and Gaige Ireland squaring off for the Aussie title.

Both looked comfortable and relaxed on the scales today.

Gaige Ireland said: " We've come all the way from Melbourne for one reason - to take away my belt."

"I am ranked number one in the ANBF and I plan on proving why."

Brent Rice said: "To get your hand raised after ten rounds is an unbelievable feeling."

"I want that feeling again, I really want this belt, I love fighting in front of Toowoomba and I'm ready to give it my all."

The trio of title fights is rounded out by the ANBF Australasian super lightweight title bout between the Ashley Huston and Jamie Hilt.

Huston is a rising star, with three fights for three wins all by round one knockout. Hilt is a former Australian title contender and Queensland Champion.

Jamie Hilt said: "It means everything to me,every belt I've fought for has meant everything to me, I'm really hungry for this one and I think it'll show on the night."

Ash Huston said: "This is going to be tough, he's a tough fighter, I'm here to challenge myself and to prove myself, I'm ready let's do this."

In the Origin showdown at today's weigh in Queensland captain Billy Holland was outnumbered with all seventeen Team South Wales members in attendance and with them International pro star Bilal Akkawy.

A very confident team New South wales manager Paul Nasari declared a Blues whitewash.

"Howmany fights are there? 17..it'll be 17 wins to New South Wales." Nasari told the media gallery.
