JAYSON MAMA WINS IBF TOURNAMENT IN CHINA

WBO Oriental Youth Flyweight Champion Jayson Mama (W12 KO6 L0 D0) won big in Beijing, China as he dominated Thai warrior and IBF ranked #5 Teeraphong Utaida (W38 KO 21 L7 D1) in the IBF Silkroad Tournament finals. Mama showcased his superior ring generalship and sealed the fight with a unanimous win with scores 99-91, 98-92 and 98-92 all in his favor.
The Filipino prospect qualified into the tournament finals by beating Chinese boxer Yinhuan Su in the semi-final stage in Macau while Utaida won against Filipino Orlie Silvestre in Bangkok. With the win, Mama?s IBF ranking rises up and may possibly give him a chance at the world title.
?I dedicate the win to my countrymen, my family and my Sanman Team. All glory be to God who gave me strength. I pray for bigger fights to come because of this victory,? Mama said.
For Sanman Chief Jim Claude Manangquil who was present at ringside, the win paves way for greater fights. ?We look forward to fighting IBF World title holder Moruti Mthalane. Jayson has a good chance against him. We will work out on bringing that fight on the table soon,? Manangquil said.
