International Championship Boxing (ICB), the organization engineering the sport of boxing?s revolutionary move into a specially designed MMA-style cage, has released the first of a series of teaser videos to preview the concept in action.
ICB Founder and Chief Executive Officer Jack Perone Fulton, after completing the official approval process, as well as the patents and trademarks for his groundbreaking 24-foot hexagon known as ?The Fight Zone,? has been busy signing fighters for his roster.
Former International Boxing Association middleweight champion Paul Mendez and undefeated cruiserweight and US Army veteran Blake ?The Beast? McKernan are the most recent athletes to sign up to compete, but that?s not all. ?What?s really interesting is we?re receiving inquiries from managers representing former UFC, Bellator and Glory fighters desiring to compete in ICB,? says Fulton. ?It seems like injuries to lower extremities in MMA athletes are motivating them to look at alternative forms of combat sport,? Fulton says. ?ICB?s move to Fight Zone Cage gives them an atmosphere to which they?re somewhat accustom.?
Under ICB rules, pre-approved by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, ?The Fight Zone? has red and blue entry points with two opposing neutral corners. Boxers compete under Association of Boxing Commissions rules with no clinching, no grappling and no kicking allowed.
