DORTICOS: "THE 'KO DOCTOR' IS COMING TO RIGA AND I WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!" PhilBoxing.com Wed, 13 Mar 2019 Cuba?s Yunier Dorticos (23-1, 21 KOs) has no problem with travelling abroad when he faces USA?s Andrew Tabiti (17-0, 13 KOs) in an Ali Trophy 200lb Semi-Final on June 15 at the Arena Riga in Riga, Latvia. The Miami-based KO artist, who held the WBA cruiserweight title from 2017 to 2018, is used to fighting on foreign soil. Especially Europe has been the battling ground for the No. 2 seed in the cruiserweight edition of the World Boxing Super Series. ?Europe is like my first home from the very beginning when I started travelling the world as a teenager with the Cuban amateur boxing team and competing,? said 32-year-old Dorticos. ?I boxed in Russia, Romania, France, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Germany to name a few and now I will fight in Riga, Latvia. The ?KO Doctor? is coming to Riga and I will not disappoint!? The big-hitting Cuban went to Sochi in Russia with his WBA belt last year to meet Russia?s Murat Gassiev in a Season 1 semi-final with the devastating result of the rare tasting of his own medicine in the form of a KO defeat in the waning seconds of the 12th and final round. Dorticos vows to exchange last year?s defeat to the ultimate prestige of raising the Ali Trophy. In the quarter-final this season he won a tough twelve round unanimous decision in Orlando, USA over Germany?s Mateusz Masternak with scores of 116-112, 115-113 and 115-113. The prescription for Tabiti in Riga will be ?very painful?. ?Tabiti will learn why I?m called the ?KO Doctor? and my opponent in the final will get the same treatment,? said Dorticos who doesn?t lack respect for the opposition in the quest for the Ali Trophy. ?All the boxers in the tournament are great and that?s why World Boxing Super Series is the best thing that has happened to boxing. But I will win the Ali Trophy this season and clean out the division. Nothing will stop me from winning. This time around, the trophy is mine.? Tickets for the hotly-anticipated semi-finals on June 15 are on sale from ?29 now, available here. Fans in the U.S. and Canada can watch the Ali Trophy semi-finals LIVE, exclusively on DAZN.
