RAMOS RECOVERS FROM A KNOCKDOWN TO DEFEAT SANTANA

Abel Ramos bucked a second round knockdown to outlast Francisco Santana to win by unanimous decision in their 10-round welterweight contest on the main undercard of the Shawn Porter-Yordenis Ugas WBC world welterweight championship at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).
Ramos (24-3-2, 18KOs) from Casa Grande, AZ won by scores of 98-92, 97-92 and 95-94 from judges Lou Moret, Fernando Villareal and Alejandro Rochin respectively.
"He caught me on a flash knockdown in the second round,? Ramos said. ?I didn't see the punch coming and he caught me a little bit off balance. As soon as I got up, I was good.?
Santana (25-7-1, 12KOs) from Santa Barabara, CA suffered his seventh loss but thought he won the fight. "I was very surprised by the scorecards. I thought I did enough to win. It was very competitive but I was landing more significant punches. I knew he was a warrior who would come back to fight after the knockdown. I don't know what else to do at this point, but I'll always keep my head held high."
