Weight issues from Las Vegas presents woe to two Pinoy fighters
By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sat, 19 Jan 2019
 Inson (L) and Buitrago.
The painful process of making weight cost two Filipino fighters their chance to shine under the bright lights of Las Vegas this Saturday night.
Jhack Tepora, the interim World Boxing Association Featherweight champ from Cebu was five and a half pounds over the division limit of 126 pounds. His opponent, Hugo Ruiz- has no problems at the scales. Ruiz from Mexico was even a pound under at 125.
As a result, Tepora will not fight in one of the undercards of his countryman, Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena tomorrow. He will be replaced by another fighter and his status as interim champ will be in jeopardy according to an insider in his team.
Also, his fight purse is in jeopardy because of this. Tepora had problems trimming down to his fight weight all week. Deprived of food and only sustained by water days prior to the weigh-in, the young warrior failed even with sustained efforts to lose it.

Meanwhile it was the opposite result for another Pinoy warrior. Flyweight Genesis Libranza of Davao City was on point in the scales at 115.5 pounds but his scheduled opponent- Carlos Buitrago of Nicaragua was five pounds over the agreed limit of 116 pounds.
As a result, their fight has also been canceled according to Philboxing.com?s sources.
The other two Filipino pugs in the card, Welterweight Jayar Inson, also of Davao City and Lightweight Rey Perez of Santa Rosa, Laguna both made weight during Friday?s weigh-in.
